At first, the 75-inch screen size and wall-mounted setup caught my eye, but over time, I paid more attention to the screen’s color tones, reflections during daytime, contrast in OTT movies, and the built-in sound. Initially, I planned to write mainly about picture quality. However, over the past few days, while working on a development project, I played Apple Music frequently. The sound quality impressed me enough to include some thoughts on audio as well. For TCL C8L, the screen balance was more noticeable than just the large screen size.
When placing a 75-inch TV in the living room, the sheer screen size is naturally striking. But after several days of use, the TCL C8L felt like it presented scenes differently rather than simply showing a bigger picture. On previous TVs, scenes mixing bright and dark areas at once sometimes appeared a bit washed out overall. With the C8L, bright and dark parts were much more distinctly separated.
This difference showed up more clearly in high-quality YouTube videos and sports broadcasts than in movies. Wide expanses of color like grass, sky, and lighting didn’t bleed excessively, and colors of players’ uniforms and backgrounds appeared more organized. The specs of C8L’s peak brightness at 6,000 nits and its 4,032 precision dimming zones are impressive figures. However, in actual use, how the TV controls the scenes matters more than the numbers alone. Dark nighttime scenes keep black areas truly black while lights and subtitles pop clearly. This is especially evident in concert footage or city nightscapes, where Mini LED's advantages shine. Instead of the entire screen overly brightening, the bright and dim areas adjust independently. This prevents dark scenes from feeling stifling and reduces eye strain when shifting to bright scenes.
A living room TV isn’t just for nighttime viewing. Daytime brings sunlight through windows, various lighting, and family members watching from different spots. TCL C8L’s WHVA 2.0 Ultra panel emphasizes an almost zero-border design, wide viewing angles, and low reflections—features that proved very practical in a living room setting.
Viewing from the front delivers clear images, but even from a side seat on the sofa or at the dining table, colors remain stable without significant degradation. The thin bezels also grow on you; when the screen is off, it reduces bulkiness on the wall, and when on, it helps you focus more on the content. Without changing the living room interior much, the wall where the TV is mounted felt tidier.

Experiencing OTT Movies and Dolby Vision
When watching movies or dramas on OTT platforms, Dolby Vision support impacts the viewing experience. Of course, the content must support the format, but when playing Dolby Vision content, the TCL C8L handles contrast and color rather naturally. Faces in dark indoor scenes remain visible, and bright windows or lights don’t get excessively washed out.
On large TVs, any image quality flaws become more noticeable as the screen size grows. That makes balancing the panel and video processing essential for a 75-inch model. The TCL C8L doesn’t feel distracting even after long OTT viewing, and it maintains immersion through an entire movie. If you want to create a home cinema vibe in your living room, this is a key point to check.
Differences Felt in Sports and YouTube
Sports broadcasts show a combination of movement and color rendering. On large soccer fields or indoor sports with lots of lighting, if colors bleed or blur, watching becomes tiring quickly. The TCL C8L keeps backgrounds and subjects relatively stable even in fast-moving scenes.
I also watched many YouTube videos featuring landscapes and product reviews. Scenes with simultaneous shifts in color and brightness—like bright skies, sunsets, indoor lighting, and product reflections—showcased C8L’s wide color gamut and contrast control well. Older TVs often emphasized only strong colors or produced a uniform tone across the screen, but now each video clearly displays distinct color differences.
Surprisingly, sound was something I checked often during this second review. The TCL C8L includes the Audio by Bang & Olufsen sound system. Typically, basic TV speakers make dialogue sound thin or get lost behind background music, but the C8L delivers clear dialogue.
When watching news, voices feel upfront, and in movies or concerts, background sounds don’t seem flat. Dolby Atmos content conveys a reasonable sense of space. I wondered if I needed a separate soundbar, but for typical living room use, additional equipment didn’t feel necessary right away. However, if you want deeper bass or a full home theater setup, adding gear is a good option.

The TCL C8L is better suited for a living room where you watch movies, sports, OTT content, and YouTube regularly rather than a small room with brief broadcasts. Its strengths become clearer if you frequently use the screen during the day, have family members watching from different spots, and want immersive large-screen experiences. If you’re considering a large TV of 75 inches or more, looking beyond size to factors like low reflections, wide viewing angles, and sound quality is important.
